Officers - What they do

Here's a summary of the responsibilities of each of the club officers.  Besides the duties assigned by the club Constitution, the officers have additional roles that have evolved over time and are key to keeping the club running smoothly.

Why list these responsibilities here?  Well, maybe YOU are a future President, or Treasurer, or Director, or ???

President
The day-to-day operation of the club, includes arm twisting members into committee positions, setting the club's short term goals, and steering the long term directions of the club.

Vice President
Sits in for the President, responsible to fill the piece of each General Meeting called 'Program'.  In other words, the VP lines up speakers and demonstrations for the General Meetings.  The VP usually leads the nomination committee to build the officer election ballot for the forthcoming year.

Secretary
Takes lots of notes, keeps the written records of the club.

Treasurer
Handles the money!  Also served as the Chief Financial Officer of the BARA Hamfest.

Directors
Lots of odd jobs.  Many sit on one or more of the standing committees, and be assigned short term tasks from our boss (the President).

Besides the above, each member of the officer team has a least one, sometimes two opportunities to round up the coffee, donuts, cookies, etc. that are served up at each General Meeting.  Each officer is assigned a meeting month to make a grocery run!

Elections

The BARA officer team is elected each year at the November meeting and assumes office in January of the following year.  Offices are open to any voting member in good standing (that means your dues are paid up!) and with at least six months of continuous membership at the time of nomination.
