OBJECTIVE 3:

The Toponymy Interest Group of the American Name Society regularly sponsors panels as part of two annual meetings:

1) The Council of Geographic Names Authorities (COGNA) meets annually with the U.S. Board on Geographic Names and the Toponymy Interest Group. This meeting is usually held in September.

2) The annual meeting of the American Name Society is currently held each year from December 27 to 30.  Two panels are co-sponsored by the Modern Language Association, and proposals (short abstracts) for those panels must be submitted by March 2.  For all other panels, proposals must be submitted by September 1.   Information may be obtained from Christine DeVinne, President of the American Name Society.

Panels and other forums for placename study are also frequently included in meetings of other organizations.
